Praia da Grama runs on Wavegarden Cove, a electro-mechanical system from Aizarnazabal. The Cove uses 46+ independent electro-mechanical modules along one wall. Each module pushes a submerged panel; sequencing the pushes creates a travelling swell that peels down the reef bay. Software controls the panel firing pattern, so a Cove can shift from a mellow Waikiki roller to an overhead barrel between waves.
Opened 2021 inside the Fazenda da Grama private residential complex, an hour north of São Paulo. Wavegarden's first South American Cove, funded and made famous by Gabriel Medina, who uses it as his primary training facility between WSL stops. Not open to the general public, access is via residency or invited pro session.
No. Praia da Grama is inside a private residential community. Access is restricted to residents and invited pros, day-passes are not sold.
No openings listed at Praia da Grama today. Surf parks hire coaches, lifeguards, wave operators, and hospitality staff in seasonal waves, so it is worth checking the board again.
