Gemswell Surf Madrid is at Adjacent to Estadio Metropolitano, Madrid, Spain.
Gemswell Surf Madrid runs on Wavegarden Cove — a electro-mechanical system from Aizarnazabal. The Cove uses 46+ independent electro-mechanical modules along one wall. Each module pushes a submerged panel; sequencing the pushes creates a travelling swell that peels down the reef bay. Software controls the panel firing pattern, so a Cove can shift from a mellow Waikiki roller to an overhead barrel between waves.
Announced in 2022 as part of a mixed-use leisure development adjacent to the Metropolitano stadium, Gemswell uses a large-scale Wavegarden Cove with around 56 modules. The reef bay is sized for pro-tuned sessions and public lessons in the same day. Opening is scheduled for summer 2026 alongside the surrounding retail and F and B tenants.
The Cove is being built next to the Metropolitano, home of Atletico Madrid, on the east side of the city and inside a new leisure complex.
The Cove uses roughly 56 Wavegarden modules, sized for high-throughput commercial operation with a wide programmable menu.
