Ground broke this month on Zion Shores, a 22-acre surf resort five miles from the south entrance of Zion National Park. What it holds is a first: a 50-meter UNIT Dynamic Wave — three times longer than any standing wave currently in commercial operation.
How the UNIT Dynamic Wave differs
UNIT's original tech is a deep-water standing wave — one spot, one direction, ride until you fall. The Dynamic Wave is different: the wave itself travels. A moving hydraulic pump pushes a shoulder that peels down the pool in one direction, giving you 40-plus seconds of open-face carving without the pool having to reset.
- ~50 m ride length, one direction (right at Zion Shores).
- ~Two waves per minute, back-to-back — roughly 120 waves an hour.
- ~Face height programmable from shoulder-high to head-and-a-half.
