The Wave Fuerteventura Opens on the Windsurf Coast

A Wavegarden Cove drops onto a windswept volcanic island — flat-water sessions in a place famous for wind, and a five-hour flight from most of Europe.

The Wave Fuerteventura opened this week — a Wavegarden Cove built ten minutes from the island's main windsurfing beach on the southeast coast. The location is a small joke: Fuerteventura is famous for being too windy to surf. Cove pools are famous for making perfect waves regardless of what the ocean is doing.

Who this pool is for

  • ~European surfers who already fly to Fuerteventura for the cheap direct flights and don't want to gamble on wind.
  • ~Windsurfers travelling with non-windsurfing partners — now everyone gets a session.
  • ~Winter escape travellers who want warm-water Cove waves in December.
