Ocean Kamp — a 92-acre mixed-use redevelopment in Oceanside, California — is back on track with a fresh construction plan and a new target: finish the surf lagoon before the LA 2028 Olympics. It sits about three miles inland from the Pacific, which makes it the first serious wave pool in North San Diego County.
What is actually being built
- ~A 3.5-acre, roughly $45M pneumatic surf lagoon designed for programmable waves, including split A-frames and a long left point setting.
- ~About 700 homes across the wider development, plus a 300-room hotel.
- ~Roughly 134,000 square feet of commercial and retail space.
- ~The same operating team behind Palm Springs Surf Club.
An earlier plan had Ocean Kamp opening in early 2026. That date is gone. The reset pushed the schedule out, and the public target is now completion by 2028, timed to the Olympic build-up in Southern California.
