Wave pools run industrial plant next to a guest-facing venue, so documentation and safe isolation practice matter as much as the fix. Employers want a trade qualification or engineering degree, PLC or SCADA familiarity, aquatic plant experience, and often a certified pool operator credential. Technicians commonly earn $28 to $45 an hour in North America, with maintenance managers and chief engineers in the $80,000 to $130,000 range. Experience is scarce and highly portable: technology suppliers such as Wavegarden, American Wave Machines, and Endless Surf recruit directly from park maintenance teams for commissioning and service roles, which is how many engineers end up travelling between openings rather than staying at a single lagoon.
